Future Meetings

We are trying to finalise a day photography course with Master Digital. (Link to Master Digital website). Hopefully we will sort out the day and attendees at our next meeting on the 7th March.

Day trip to Saltwick Bay & Whitby - a small number of members spent an enjoyable day and managed to get some good photographs. Despite the poor forecast the weather was kind to us.

Lee did some Photoshop techniques.

Watched 4 chapters of Perfect Exposure video with practical seessions on metering. We will complete the chapters at a later meeting.

DVD Showing - it was agreed we need to view the DVD again in short sections and then have a practical outside the hall.

Practical - using aperture for DofF.
Review - a wide view of photographs covering action and DofF were displeyed.

We had a great meeting when Messrs. John Devlin, Brian Jobson & Mike Kipling attended. (Link to Master Digital website).
They gave a couple of presentations with commentary on composition, technique, timing etc. which was greatly appreciated by all of us. Throughout they were very helpful giving all sorts of tips & insight into how to improve our photography. A wonderful evening which extended to our local hostelry where further discussion took place.

Theme Photographs - Bulb setting photographs were displayed with users commenting on their technique/settings.
Discussion on future programme - Ian agreed to set up some presentations on photographic topics for future meetings. It is hoped to incorporate practical sessions after the theory to help users with their cameras.

Practical - A general discussion on the use of the Bulb shutter setting.

Review - some iconic images of a great visit to Newcastle Quayside.
The exhibition was very successful and some visitors may join us at the club.

Trip to Newcastle Quayside. A great night and the weather was very kind to us. Everyone seemed very pleased with their images so hopefully some good photographs to review at our next meeting.

John did a presentation on Exposure, Aperture & Shutter Speed. This was followed by a general discussion on the subject.
Theme - Macro/Close Up. Again some very nice photographs displayed which stimulated some discussion.
Sid demonstrated some Photoshop basics including selection, levels and cloning.

Due to the cramped conditions in previous weeks it was felt we needed a larger venue and it was decided to start using the Women's Institute, Carlton
Unfortunately we couldn't get word out to everyone.
However we had a session on setting up the projector and basic editing which will be repeated at our next meeting if useful to those attending.

Evening Visit - Greatham Creek & Transporter Bridge. While we didn't see any seals some good images of wildlife and industrial landscapes were captured.

21st April 2009 Theme - Motion. Some very nice prints were displayed and comments made.
Digital Imaging - the first session covered computers, storage,file type/size and transferring images from a camera to a computer. Click here to download notes.

Although very crowded the Family Portrait session went very well. Many thanks to our guest sitters who were very patient with us.
Interior photographs from our previous visit to St. Cuthbert's Church were displayed and constructive comments made.
In future sessions we intend to cover the process of editing images in computers and Sid gave a quick overview of some of the procedures.

Our visit to St. Cuthbert's Church, Redmarshall was a great success with hopefully many good photographs taken. We intend to view these at our next meeting. The church is a fantastic venue and we appreciate being allowed to visit the church.

All members displayed water theme photographs and constructive help was offered with camera set-up.
Desiree & Gary also displayed some of their prints and demonstrated how framing a print can make a tremendous difference.
Joe initiated a discussion on a possible 2010 Club Calendar.

John demonstrated our new website.
A good selection of prints on the transport theme were displayed.
While the water droplets was a failure we did get some good images of light streams using a torch.

A number of prints were displayed showing a good variety of subject and interpretation - some were lucky enough to go abroad for their subjects!
Dezzy also demonstrated how he used Photoshop to build up his layered landscape image using photographs of vegetables.
